Why you don't want to read this book

Spoiler alert: this is a no-star story. If fidelity is important to you, you'll hate this book--I envy the readers who stopped before finishing it. He claims to love her, seems to understand her, and then shames her with other women at their wedding celebration in a most insulting way. She disappears for the rest of the day and he doesn't bother to go looking for her. When she leaves her room and stumbles upon him later that night, oh, boo-hoo, he's been crying. He apologizes, admits he was this close to cheating on her with one of the sluts at the wedding, and says it's because he's broken inside due to the death of his first wife--and she forgives him. Just like that. Disgusting. And this is at 94% of the book--Regan ruined the story at the very end! She's on my "don't read" list because I don't need that kind of suffering in the books I read to escape.

Disappointed

Well to start I love romance, especially this time period. I did not like the hero. He was an jerk. I found nothing to like about him. I was really upset she let him off the hook so easily, not very realistic. I was very disappointed. Don't know if I will try to read any more of this author's book.

Will the marriage last

Clara Boyle was a widow on her wedding night.Her father decides to marry her off to Lord Eliot.He had. Been married and his wife died. He is now a well known rake.She was injured and has to remain at his home and they agree to marry. He had not been near her up to the day before the wedding . He takes her to a chapel on the estate and they marry without any family or guests. They have a wedding night at the chapel and return home the next day. He ignored Clara and spent time with old women friends. I did not feel they would ever have a lasting marriage. He had told her he loved her before marriage and after yet acted the way he did. I could not understand her forgiveness. I agree with another reviewer we knew nothing of his feelings. We might could have understand him better everything was how she felt. I did not have a good feeling after reading this book everything seemed to be just sexual between them
